St. Lo Chess Tournament in France

I have been selected as a replacement for someone who couldn't make it to go to France! A week ago I was pleasantly surprised to see an email telling me this. It's gonna cost a lot of money, but so far God has provided with some promising sponsors. Please pray for me that I will be able to get all the money needed and that I will travel safely.

It is in St. Lo, France, which is about 150 miles north of Paris. It takes place form the 6th to the 16th of July this year. I'm really excited to represent South Africa at my first international chess tournament.

Closed Results

I unfortunately didn't make the team this year, but I learned a lot. I won 4 games and lost 3. I would have been on the team if I had won my game Saturday night, I was winning, but I messed up and lost. I also would have been in the team if they didn't nead 5 girls per team, a girl who I did better than made it. I was also tied with some of the guys that made the team, but they played at higher boards so I still didn't make it.

I'll be back next year though to try again. I'll try to get a coach, it really helps to have one.

Blessed Assurance

My dad's been preaching through Romans at church on Sunday mornings. I found the following passage very encouraging.

Romans 10:9 says", That if you confess with your mouth,' Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

I have confessed that "Jesus is Lord" in worship and in public at my bapstism. I also know that I believe God raised him from the dead. Therefore I will be saved. So if we do these things we know we are saved. What blessed assurance!

SA Junior Closed Tournament 2008

I just found out today that I have been invited to the South African Junior Closed Chess Tournament, if I do well enough there I will play for the South African Chess Team. I am really excited and am starting some serious studying for it today. The best of South Afica for my age group will be there, that is U/16. it will be in Rustenburg from the 26th to the 30th of March.
